In your spiritual life are you like a man going to the doctor?

I admit it, I live the cliche, I am great at putting off going to the doctor - just like a man!!

But I wonder how many of us treat our souls like the cliched man treats his body - we avoid thinking about our soul's health and when we know there is something amiss in our soul we try and ignore it.   (Our souls are the deepest part of us that integrates everything else together - will, mind, body etc)

Jesus asked 'What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?' (Mark 8:36) - eg focus on external stuff to avoid or ignore soul stuff

He also promised: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matt 11:28-30)

Coming to Jesus with our soul issues is much much better than going to the dentist.   So if you sense something amiss with your soul, bring it to God confident of God's healing.  And if you are unsure of how to do that, seek out someone who you sense has a depth and integrity of soul, they will be glad to help.
